About Among Us
Among Us is a multiplayer social deduction game developed by Innersloth. Players are secretly assigned roles at the start of each round: most become Crewmates responsible for completing tasks around the map, while one or more become Impostors whose goal is to eliminate Crewmates without being caught. The tension comes from the fact that nobody knows who the Impostors are — and the Impostors themselves look identical to everyone else.
The game unfolds in two alternating phases. During the action phase, Crewmates move through the map completing mini-tasks — wiring panels, downloading data, fueling engines — while Impostors stalk them, fake tasks, use vents to move unseen, and trigger sabotages to cause chaos. When a body is discovered or a player calls an Emergency Meeting, the game shifts into discussion: everyone debates, accuses, and defends until a vote is held to eject someone from the ship.
Among Us became a cultural phenomenon in 2020, peaking at 3.8 million concurrent players and accumulating over 500 million players worldwide. The game popularized the term 'sus' (short for suspicious) into mainstream slang and spawned countless memes. What drove that reach was its simplicity — the rules take two minutes to learn — combined with the unpredictable social dynamics that make every round feel different.
The browser version captures the core Among Us experience: the same maps, the same role mechanics, the same voting drama. You can jump in without installing anything and play with others online immediately.

How to Play
- 1Join a game lobby and wait for enough players. The host can adjust Impostor count and other settings before starting.
- 2When the round begins, check your role privately. Crewmate or Impostor — keep it to yourself.
- 3As Crewmate: move through the map and complete your assigned tasks. Watch for suspicious behavior around you.
- 4As Impostor: eliminate Crewmates when alone, use vents to move unseen, and trigger sabotages to create cover or force Crewmates away from tasks.
- 5When a body is found or Emergency Meeting called, discuss with the group. Present your observations, challenge suspicions, and vote to eject someone.
- 6Crewmates win by completing all tasks or voting out all Impostors. Impostors win by reducing Crewmates to equal numbers or completing a critical sabotage.
Tips & Tricks
- As Crewmate, complete tasks near other players when possible. Being visually confirmed doing a task — especially a visual task like Medbay Scan — dramatically reduces suspicion on you for the rest of the round.
- As Impostor, avoid killing immediately after a meeting or body report. The timing creates a pattern that experienced players recognize instantly.
- Learn which tasks have visible animations (visual tasks). Faking a visual task is impossible — Impostors standing at the terminal with no animation playing is a tell.
- In discussion, pay attention to who deflects rather than engages. Impostors often redirect accusations rather than contributing observations.
- Sabotage strategically, not randomly. Reactor meltdown and O2 failures force every Crewmate to respond, creating opportunities to kill with less risk of witnesses.

FAQ
Among Us supports 4 to 15 players per game. The number of Impostors is configurable by the host, typically 1 for smaller lobbies and 2-3 for larger ones.
Impostors win by eliminating enough Crewmates to reach equal numbers, or by completing a critical sabotage (Reactor or O2) before Crewmates can fix it. They lose if voted out.
'Sus' is short for suspicious. Players use it during discussion to flag who they think is an Impostor. The term entered mainstream slang through Among Us memes during the game's 2020 peak.
The game has four maps: The Skeld (the original spaceship), Mira HQ (a space station), Polus (a research outpost on an alien planet), and The Airship (added in 2021, the largest map in the game).
Impostors can fake tasks by standing at terminals, but they do not actually complete them and cannot contribute to the Crewmate task bar. This is why watching the task bar progress is one way to track Impostor behavior.
