About Billiards Master

Billiards Master is a fully featured browser pool game that goes well beyond the typical drag-and-click billiards experience. It includes six distinct rule sets — 8-Ball, 9-Ball, UK 8-Ball, Snooker, Time Trial, and the unique Matrix Mode — plus a dedicated Practice sandbox. The physics engine handles trajectory, ball spin, and cue ball positioning with enough accuracy to genuinely reward technique.

Shot control uses three layers: aim direction via mouse drag, power via a slider, and English/spin via a separate control interface. Spin options include top spin (promotes forward roll), backspin (pulls the cue ball back after contact), and side spin (curves the cue ball's path after impact). Mastering spin control is what separates intermediate players from those who can plan and execute a full table run.

Time Trial mode challenges players to pocket as many balls as possible within four minutes, with consecutive pockets building a score multiplier. Matrix Mode introduces a mathematical dimension: your score multiplies by the difference when you pocket a higher-numbered ball next, or divides by the ball number if you pocket a lower one. Planning your pocket sequence becomes as important as the execution of each individual shot.

Practice Mode has no rules, no opponent, and no time pressure — it is a free-form sandbox for developing specific shots, testing spin behavior, and building reliable cue ball positioning habits. Players new to realistic billiards physics will find the Practice mode invaluable before attempting CPU opponents or the timed competitive modes.

Key Features

  • Six distinct modes: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, UK 8-Ball, Snooker, Time Trial, and Matrix Mode
  • Full spin/English control: top spin, backspin, and side spin each affecting cue ball path
  • Time Trial with a consecutive-pocket score multiplier
  • Matrix Mode — mathematical scoring based on the numerical sequence of potted balls
  • Practice sandbox with no rules for free-form shot development

Controls

Drag mouse — aim cue direction around the cue ball
Left Mouse Button on power slider — set shot strength
Spin control UI — click to apply English to the cue ball
Click ball icon — confirm and execute the shot
MobileDrag to aim, tap power slider, use spin wheel, confirm shot with tap

How to Play

  1. 1Select a mode. 8-Ball is the best starting point for standard pool rules.
  2. 2Drag the mouse around the cue ball to aim. The cue line shows your shot trajectory.
  3. 3Set shot power using the power slider — moderate power works for most shots.
  4. 4Optionally apply spin using the English control to manage cue ball position after contact.
  5. 5Confirm the shot. After each pot, plan the next shot's cue ball position before aiming.

Tips & Tricks

  • Apply backspin on close-range shots to stop the cue ball near the contact point rather than following the object ball across the table.
  • In Time Trial, clear easier clustered balls first to build the multiplier before attempting difficult bank or combination shots.
  • In Matrix Mode, always try to pocket the next highest-numbered available ball to multiply your score — plan the sequence two or three shots ahead.
  • In 8-Ball, focus on cue ball positioning for the next shot, not just sinking the current one. Running a table requires thinking at least two shots ahead consistently.

FAQ

Matrix Mode scores you based on the order you pot balls. If the next ball you pocket has a higher number than the previous, your score multiplies by the numerical difference. If lower, your score divides by the ball number. It rewards mathematically planned pocket sequences.

The spin UI shows a circle representing the cue ball. Clicking higher applies top spin, lower applies backspin, and left or right applies side English. The cue ball's post-contact path changes based on the spin applied.

Yes — Pass & Play mode allows local 2-player games on the same device, with players alternating shots. Solo vs CPU is also available in all main modes.

Standard 8-Ball uses American pool rules with solids and stripes. UK 8-Ball (British Pool) uses a smaller table, different ball sizes, and stricter ball-in-hand foul rules.
